Point Pleasant Beach — The Northern Shore of Manasquan Inlet
Point Pleasant Beach sits on the Ocean County side of Manasquan Inlet, and the 1920 aerial shows the growing resort with boardwalk amusements and the wide beach facing south and east. The inlet's northern jetty is visible, and the community extends northward along the Barnegat Bay shoreline. By 1933, the hurricane had damaged the beachfront and altered the inlet shoals. The 1962 view, taken after the Ash Wednesday Storm, shows Point Pleasant Beach in the immediate aftermath of what was then the worst storm to hit the area in living memory — overwash and beach erosion are clearly visible compared to the 1920 and 1933 aerials.
