North Beach Haven — The Gateway to Beach Haven
North Beach Haven sits at the northern edge of the Beach Haven resort area — a transitional zone between the commercial energy of Beach Haven and the quieter residential communities to the north. The 1920 aerial shows the community before significant development, with natural dunes and a broad beach. By 1933, growth had accelerated. The 1944 Great Atlantic Hurricane caused considerable damage to the oceanfront, visible in the dune erosion of that year's aerial. By 1962, North Beach Haven was a dense summer neighborhood closely woven into the fabric of Beach Haven. The Ash Wednesday Storm struck in March before the season opened, but its impact on the oceanfront was visible from above regardless of the season.
