Loch Arbour — The Lakeside Village at the Shore

Loch Arbour is one of New Jersey's tiniest municipalities — barely a few blocks surrounding Deal Lake, just inland from the Asbury Park beachfront. The 1920 aerial shows the wooded residential streets and the lake-edge properties that gave this village its name. There is no direct oceanfront here — Loch Arbour sits just behind the Asbury Park barrier — but its quiet character stands in sharp contrast to the resort activity visible on the other side of Deal Lake. By 1933, the community appears essentially unchanged from 1920, a stable residential enclave largely insulated from the storm drama playing out on the oceanfront.
