Beach Haven Crest — A Quiet Corner of Southern LBI
Beach Haven Crest occupies a section of southern LBI between the resort energy of Beach Haven and the wilder sections to the north. The 1920 aerial shows the early development of this community — a few blocks of summer cottages behind natural dunes, with the wide beach extending south toward Beach Haven. By 1933, the community had grown modestly and the summer hurricane left its mark on the dune face. The 1944 hurricane damage and the 1962 Ash Wednesday Storm each add another chapter — the 1962 view shows a landscape where ocean and bay repeatedly threatened to converge across the narrow island.
